For grocery, liquor, and convenience stores, etc. Allows for the sale of alcoholic liquor for off-premises consumption in original unopened containers. No sales by the drink. Sunday sales are included. Also allows wholesale sales to on-premises class \"A\", \"B\", \"C\" and \"D\" liquor licensees but must have a TTB Federal Wholesale Basic Permit.

Who Applies Any owner of an establishment who will sell carry-out liquor to customers.

When To Apply Before selling liquor to retail customers or to on-premises retailers.

Initial Requirements Licensure requires a $5,000 to $15,000 surety bond payable to the Alcoholic Beverages Division, an Iowa Sales Tax Permit, the endorsement of the local authority and observance of local ordinances governing licensed establishments. A Federal Basic Permit may also be required. Please contact the U.S. Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) https://www.ttb.gov/. Separate permits and fees are required to sell beer and wine. Applicant Qualifications: Applicant must be 21 years of age or older, an U.S. citizen and an Iowa resident or a registered corporation, having no felony convictions within the past 5 years, possessing \"good moral character\" as defined in the Iowa Code section 123.3(40) and good financial standing and possessing no Federal Gambling Stamp.

Duration One year.

Processing Time 45 days.

Fee Structure Fees are based on square footage of the entire interior area of the licensed establishment and population of the community in which the licensed establishment resides. Basic fees range from $750 to $7,500 depending upon the square footage and/or population.
