Class "B" Retail Alcohol License

About

Allows for the retail sale of beer and wine to consumers for off-premises consumption. No sales by the drink.  Also allows for wholesale sales to on-premises retail alcohol licensees but must have a TTB Federal Wholesale Basic Permit.

Who Applies A business wishing to sell beer and wine to consumers for off-premises consumption.

When To Apply Before selling beer or wine to retail customers.

Initial Requirements – Proof of control of the property to be licensed (deed, lease, final sales contract) – Sketch of the premises to be licensed – Local authority approval. A local authority is either the city council or the county board of supervisors, depending on where the premises to be licensed is located.

Duration 12 months

Processing Time 45 days

Fee Structure Fee is based on population where the licensed premises is located and square footage. Total license fee ranges from $75 to $750.

Renewal Requirements License must be renewed on an annual basis. Same requirements as when the license was initially issued.
