Who Applies Any laboratory that will provide radon or radon decay product test kit sales, provide analysis of radon tests kits or measurements conducted in Iowa.

When To Apply Before selling or retailing radon test devices and before analyzing any radon test devices being sold in Iowa.

Initial Requirements To be certified as a radon measurement laboratory the laboratory must be currently registered or listed with the American Association of Radon Scientists & Technologists/National Radon Proficiency Program (AARST/NRPP) or National Radon Safety Board (NRSB) as a Radon Measurement Laboratory. The laboratory must submit an application, a Quality Assurance/Quality Control plan for approval by IDPH, and follow all procedures established by the EPA Quality Assurance/Quality Control guidelines for laboratories. Must submit test results to the department on a monthly basis. Radon measurement laboratories are subject to inspection by the Department of Public Health.
