Certification program for consultants who conduct petroleum contamination assessment and cleanup at leaking Underground Storage Tank (UST) sites.

Who Applies Individuals who provide consulting services related to groundwater and subsurface soil contamination or who contract to perform or supervise remediation or corrective action services at leaking underground storage tank sites.

When To Apply Initial application for certification must be sent to DNR 3 weeks prior to the exam. Applicants must register for the examination at least 2 weeks prior to the exam date. Currently no RBCA course or exam is available. We are working at getting a RBCA training course in place in 2020. Information will be placed on UST Professional Bulletin Board when something is in place.

Initial Requirements Applicants must register for the examination at least two weeks prior to exam date. Contact Bonnie Garrison at 515.725.8310 to get on a waiting list for RBCA 2-day course or exam. Currently, no course is available at this time.

Duration Certificates are valid for 2 years with initial certificates expiring December 31 of each odd-numbered year. Renewal occurs every 2 years by January 1 of each even-numbered year and expires December 31 of each odd-numbered year.

Processing Time One to 2 weeks.

Fee Structure 1) Initial application for groundwater professional certification: $200 - (non-refundable payable to DNR; 2) Renewal application: $200 - Renewal fees are to be paid biennially by January 1 of each even-numbered year payable to DNR; 3) Risk Based Corrective Action (RBCA) training course: No RBCA course available at this time. No trainer available at this time. Looking at options for upcoming training which may consist of having qualified in-house staff perform 2-day RBCA training. Will update this page and IDNR web when training is in place. 4) Exam: fee will be determined contingent upon 2-day RBCA trainer decision. Will email list of applicants that expressed interest and post on IDNR UST Groundwater Professional Bulletin Board when something is in place.

Renewal Requirements Does not pertain.

Exam RBCA Computer Training and Exam location and fees will be determined and posted on this page and the IDNR web page when a final decision has been determined.
