Before installing aboveground tanks storing flammable or combustible liquids, plans must be submitted to the Fire Marshal Division for approval in accordance with subrule 661 Iowa Administrative Code 221.3(3)

Who Applies Owners of aboveground storage containers holding flammable or combustible liquids or liquid propane, the installer shall submit construction documents for such installation to the Iowa State Fire Marshal for site plan approval.

When To Apply Approval shall be sought before the installation of containers.

Initial Requirements Submission of plans triggers review and inspection; no other requirements.

Duration Approval required prior to installation only.

Processing Time Thirty days.
