About

A pharmacy support person is an individual who works in a pharmacy under the supervision of a pharmacist and assists with nontechnical duties such as sales clerk, delivering prescriptions, submitting orders to drug wholesalers and checking in shipments of prescription drugs from drug wholesalers, filing, receiving prescription refill requests from patients, checking pharmacy stock for outdated drugs and assisting with inventory counts, and performing routine clerical functions.

Who Applies Any individual who will be performing nontechnical duties under the pharmacist\\’s responsibility and supervision, other than a licensed pharmacist, a registered pharmacist-intern, or a registered pharmacy technician.

When To Apply Application must be submitted and a registration issued before the individual begins employment as a pharmacy support person.

Initial Requirements Submission of an application for registration and fee before beginning employment as a pharmacy support person. There are no minimum requirements and no examination or certification is required.

Duration Registrations are issued for a period of two years, requiring renewal by the end of the individual\\’s birth month.

Processing Time Completed applications are processed within 15 business days of receipt.

Fee Structure Biennial registration: $25 Penalty for late payment within 30 days of expiration: $25 additional (total $50) Reactivation more than 30 days following date of expiration: Total reactivation fee $100

Renewal Requirements Completion of registration renewal application and payment of renewal fee.
