Dealer license authorizes a person to engage in the business of selling at retail mobile homes or manufactured housing to the general public. Distributor license authorizes a person to act as a wholesale distributor to retailers. Manufacturer\\\\\\\\’s license authorizes manufacturing mobile or manufactured homes for sale in Iowa. Code Citation Iowa Code section 103A.52 Who Applies Any person engaged in the business of selling 1 or more mobile homes or manufactured houses in a 12 month period must obtain a dealer license. Any person engaged in distributing mobile or manufactured homes to retailers must maintain a distributor\\\\\\\\’s license. Any manufacturer providing mobile or manufactured homes to Iowa retailers must maintain a manufacturer\\\\\\\\’s license. When To Apply Application must be made and a license issued before sales begin. Initial Requirements An applicant for retail licensure must file a surety bond with the Department of Public Safety in the amount of $50,000. A manufacturer must provide a manufacturer\\\\\\\\’s certificate of origin with each unit. Must be a $50,000 mobile/manufactured home retailer bond. The display of mobile homes or manufactured housing at fairs, shows, and exhibitions requires an additional 14-day temporary permit. (Not to exceed 14 days.)
