Certification by Attorney General, under the Iowa Lemon Law, for a motor vehicle manufacturer’s new motor vehicle consumer dispute resolution program. If the program is certified, consumers who purchase or lease new motor vehicles must first resort to the manufacturer’s dispute resolution program before they can file an action in district court seeking replacement of the vehicle or a refund.

Who Applies All motor vehicle manufacturers excluding moped, motorcycle, and motor home manufacturers, and manufacturers of vehicles with a rating of +15,000 pounds gross vehicle weight.

Initial Requirements If a manufacturer’s dispute resolution program is certified in another state under a law substantially similar to Iowa’s Lemon Law, the manufacturer may apply for certification to the Attorney General by providing proof of such certification.
