About

A certified health service provider in psychology is deemed qualified to diagnose or evaluate mental illness and nervous disorders and to treat mental illnesses and disorders, excluding those mental illnesses and nervous disorders which are established as primarily of biological etiology -- with the exception of the treatment of the psychological and behavioral aspects of those mental illnesses and nervous disorders.

When To Apply After licensure as a psychologist.

Initial Requirements An applicant must have at least two years of clinical experience in a recognized health service setting or meet the standards of the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. Two years of clinical experience means two years of supervised experience in health service in psychology, of which at least one year is in an organized health service training program as defined in 240.7(2) and one year is postdoctoral.

Duration Two years.

Renewal Requirements Must meet continuing education requirements of Psychologists - 40 hours every two years.
