Respiratory care practitioners provide therapy, management, rehabilitation, diagnostic evaluation, and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities affecting the cardiopulmonary (heart-lung) system.

Who Applies Any person who wishes to provide respiratory care services in Iowa.

When To Apply After completing educational requirements and passing the national examination.

Initial Requirements Graduation from a board approved respiratory care education program and passing score on the national examination.

Duration 6 to 29 months for initial, 2 years for renewal.
