This individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight. Emergency Medical Technicians perform interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance. Who Applies Any individual who wishes to become certified as an EMT.
When To Apply After successful course completion.
Initial Requirements An applicant must successfully complete an EMT course, be 17 years of age, and be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.
Duration Two years.

Fee Structure Initial Certification Application fee: $30 Renewal Fee: None
Renewal Requirements 24 hours of approved continuing education every two years and a current course completion card for CPR.
Exam National Registry of EMTs cognitive and psychomotor exam for the EMT level.
