Permit establishes a program governing the harvesting and sale of American ginseng subject to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna. Code Citation IC 456A.24.11, IAC Chapter 78 Who Applies Any person who deals in ginseng, which includes without limitation; buying, selling, purchasing, holding, brokering, billing for bartering, trading or otherwise receiving payment for wild or cultivated ginseng in Iowa, for the purpose of selling or otherwise transacting wild or cultivated ginseng. When To Apply Anytime. Initial Requirements None. Duration Valid from April 1 until March 31 of the following year. Processing Time Two weeks. Fee Structure Annual Permit Fee: Class A- Deals in any amount of Ginseng Resident $250 for Non Resident $500. Class B- Authorizes an Iowa Resident to deal in not more that five (5) lbs dry weight of wild ginseng in license year. Renewal Requirements None. Exam None.
