Allows railroads, air common carriers and passenger-carrying boats or ships operating inland or on boundary waters to sell alcoholic liquor, wine, and beer for on-premises consumption only. No carry-out sales.

Who Applies Any railway organization, air common carrier, or passenger-carrying boats or ships operating in inland or boundary waters that wishes to serve liquor, wine or beer.

When To Apply Before railway organization, air common carrier, or passenger-carrying boats or ships serve alcoholic beverages.

Initial Requirements Application requires the endorsement of the local authority and observance of local ordinances governing licensed establishments. Applicant Qualifications: Applicant must be 21 years of age or older, an U.S. citizen and an Iowa resident or a registered corporation, having no felony convictions within the past 5 years, possessing “good moral character” as defined in the Iowa Code section 123.3(40) and good financial standing.

Duration One year, 8 months, 14 days, and 5 days.

Processing Time 45 days.

Fee Structure Train License: $62.50 to $500 Plane License: $62.50 to $500 Boat License: $18.75 to $150 Fees vary based upon the duration of the license. One license covers all trains, planes or boats (without gambling) which are owned by the company. Gambling boats must obtain a separate license for each boat.
