Who Applies Any person wishing to mine minerals in Iowa must obtain a mining license and register all sites prior to the beginning of mining or the removal of overburden.

When To Apply Application must be made and a license and registration granted before mining begins in Iowa.

Initial Requirements A surety bond is required for each mining site.

Duration License and site registration expire on December 31 following the date of issuance.

Fee Structure New License: $50 Renewal: $20 Site Registration Application: $50 per site Site Registration Renewal: $35 per site

Renewal Requirements Renew every two years.

Exam No exam.
