Permit for construction, installation, or modification of any public water supply system prior to beginning construction.

Code Citation IAC 567 – Chapter 43

Who Applies Anyone planning to construct, install, or modify any public water supply system is required to obtain a construction permit prior to beginning construction. Such systems include those that provide the public with piped water for human consumption, have at least 15 service connections, or regularly serve an average of at least 25 individuals, at least 60 days per year.

When To Apply Plans and specifications must be submitted to the DNR at least 30 days before the proposed date to begin construction. All engineering reports must be submitted at least 60 days prior to the date on which action by the DNR is desired.

Initial Requirements Check with local water utility.

Duration One year.

Processing Time Thirty days for a water main construction permit. Sixty days for a non-water main construction permit. Sixty days for an engineering report. For SRF projects, please contact Tara Naber at 515-725-0292.

Renewal Requirements Does not pertain.
