Code Citation IAC 567 – Chapter 83
Who Applies Laboratories that analyze environmental samples for compliance purposes for the DNR must be certified. Certification is offered for the following programs: Drinking Water, Wastewater (nonpotable water), Municipal Sludge, Contaminated Sites & Solid Waste, and Underground Storage Tanks.
When To Apply A laboratory must submit a complete application and fee no later than 60 days prior to the expiration date of the certification. An on-site audit is conducted as part of the certification process. The DNR accepts reciprocal certification in most cases.
Initial Requirements A quality assurance plan, standard operating procedures, calibration curves, demonstration of capability of analysts, and acceptable PT tests must be submitted with the initial application and fee. An on-site audit is conducted as part of the certification process.
Duration Two years.
Processing Time Three to six months.
Fee Structure Applicable fees are based on the type of analytical service(s) that the laboratory provides. A fee schedule is available from the DNR.
Renewal Requirements A laboratory must be re-certified every two years after initial certification. A laboratory may update the certification during this two year period.
