Asbestos abatement workers must have licenses unless they work only on their employer’s property.

Who Applies Individuals who plan to work on asbestos abatement projects must first obtain a license unless they work only on property belonging to their employer. Even if the licensing requirement doesn’t apply, other regulations probably do apply.
When To Apply At least 30 days before beginning work.
Initial Requirements Applicants must complete an initial four-day training course as established by the U.S. EPA. A completed application form from the Dept of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing must be submitted with all the required attachments. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
Duration Valid until the training certification expires.
Processing Time Up to 30 days.
Fee Structure $20 (non-refundable)
Renewal Requirements Application is the same for new licenses and renewal licenses. An annual, one-day refresher course is required.
Exam Applicants must pass a written examination administered by the training provider.
