Reservation of Corporate Name

About

A person may reserve the exclusive use of a corporate name, including a fictitious or alternate name for a foreign corporation whose corporate name is not available in Iowa.  If the secretary of state finds that the corporate name applied for is available, the secretary of state shall reserve the name for the applicant’s exclusive use for a nonrenewable one hundred twenty-day period.

Who Applies Persons wishing to reserve a corporate name prior to filing articles of incorporation.

When To Apply Prior to filing articles of incorporation. Reserving a corporate name is not required prior to filing articles of incorporation – it\’s optional.

Initial Requirements Corporate name to be reserved and name and address of the applicant.

Duration One hundred twenty days.

Processing Time Three days.

Fee Structure Fee: $10
