About

License authorizing group foster care and children\\’s residential facilities to provide 24 hour care to children who are unable to remain in their homes. Licensing is required to ensure facilities meet minimum standards for health, safety, and capacity.

Who Applies Any eligible entity wishing to operate a group foster care facility or children\\’s residential facility.

When To Apply There is no deadline to apply.

Initial Requirements The Department of Inspections and Appeals will conduct an onsite evaluation. A criminal record check, child abuse check, reference check, and medical exam are required.

Duration One to three years from the date of issuance.

Processing Time Notification of license approval or denial will be made within 90 days of application or reapplication.

Fee Structure No fees.

Renewal Requirements Applications for renewal shall be made at least 30 but no more than 90 days before the license expires. Renewal decisions shall be made using the same process that is used for the original application.
